falling into place

,
Lately, a lot of my daily activities revolve around planning my worldwide adventure. I've found that my plans change so much every day, and I love it. I love how I don't have set destinations until my flights are booked, and even then I have the freedom to cancel my flights (thanks to discounted flight insurance from cheapoair.com). I like being able to just throw away whatever I had planned on doing and switching it up and not having to worry about what might come next. I read something on Matador Network that said trip plans are useful, but when followed too stubbornly, we lose purpose in our travels and restrict and stifle ourselves. I think that spontanaeity is a good thing sometimes. Without it, we hardly get to experience how life miraculously works out, even without perfect planning.

About a year ago, while we were in Haiti, Patrick Poquiz told me that things will always fall into place. It wasn't one of those inspiring "God will take care of you" speeches, or anything like that. Instead, Patrick was sharing his heart-felt awe at the miracle of everyday life. Things just do fall into place. It's not something we can explain, but everyone can just stop and take a look at their own life to see that things just tend to work out. As hard as I try to plan my trip right now, something will always get in the way or change suddenly, and I love being able to have the reassurance that, no matter what, I'll be okay.

Important Updates
1. We're flying out of LAX on Sunday, July 26, 11:30 PM (come see us off!). I arrive in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Tuesday, July 28, 11:05 AM after a 10 hour layover in Mexico City.
2. On August 9, we're flying out of Rio de Janeiro at 3:20 PM. We reach Buenos Aires, Argentina at 7:55 PM on the same day after a 45 minute layover in Montevideo.
3. Eddie Kim is no longer traveling with Yoontae and me. It's just a two-man trip again.
4. If you want to travel, do it now. Seriously. I just booked nearly 7500 miles worth of international flights for about $640. Thats after taxes, fees, and ticket insurance. Amazing.

YAY TRAVELING

,
Summer has been hectic but so fun. Knowing that I'm not going to be in school for a while, I just really want to slack off, but my trip planning is preventing that. It's almost disgusting how many different airline websites there are that all offer to find the cheapest price, but most of them suck. Things are finally starting to fall into place though. I'm almost ready to book my first three flights: from LAX to Buenos Aires in Argentina, from Buenos Aires to Sao Paulo in Brazil, then from either Sao Paulo or Rio de Janeiro to Lima, Peru. Most of these flights are pretty cheap, and I can usually find them for under $260 per person.

I'm going up to LA this week to apply for a visa. Brazil requires one, even for tourists. I'm getting my vaccines taking care of, hopefully this week too, and filling out the application, still have a lot to do, but things are progressing.

Oh yeah, important update! Eddie Kim will be joining Yoontae and I in our travels during the summer. Again, for those of you who will be following my travels via blog, I'm leaving in the end of July from LAX to Argentina, Brazil, Peru, and Costa Rica taking only one big backpack with necessities and a camera. I have close to no clue what we're going to do in each country, but I'm so excited. SO EXCITED.

Sorry this post is a mess but my mind's kind of all over the place lately too. Trying to keep track of so much stuff mixed in with all the excitement and the little bit of fear is not helping.

Okay bye.
More updates to come.

I'm sitting in the library, waiting for my last class of the week. This week has been one of the most intense weeks I've had this year. I'm all nostalgic since this is my last full week at UCLA for who knows how long (probably a year), but I've been really busy with school work and preparation for my trip so I hardly even have time to reflect on this year.

I'm too tired and my head hurts too much so I will just give brief updates about my life.

Important update #1:
I now have an official traveling buddy for the summer portion of my travels. Justin Yoontae Kim will have the privilege of traveling with me to Costa Rica, Peru, Brazil, and other various Central and South American countries. I'm gonna eat llama.

Important update #2:
MyFirstDictionary is the best blog ever. Check it out.

Important update #3:
I am now officially hardcore.

The End.
